Terms & Conditions – Make the Most of Your Food Challenge

1. 1. Love Food Hate Waste Canada is a campaign managed by FoodMesh in collaboration with campaign partners with the goal of helping Canadians make the most of the food they love.
   2. Love Food Hate Waste Canada is modelled on WRAP United Kingdom’s successful initiative of the same name. It is a national campaign aimed at educating residents about avoidable household food waste and inspiring them to change behaviour to help solve the issue. The campaign offers simple tips and actions individuals can take to reduce food waste in their homes. Learn more at www.lovefoodhatewaste.ca 
2. ABOUT THE CONTEST
   1. The Make the Most of Your Food – Food Saving Challenge Contest (the “Contest”) is intended to raise awareness about wasted food in homes across Canada and help residents understand that they can make small changes to help solve the issue.
   2. For more information about the Contest, please visit the Contest website.
   3. IMPORTANT: By participating in this Contest, each Entrant hereby declares that they:
      1. have read, understood and complied with the Terms & Conditions ; and
      2. agree to abide by all decisions of FoodMesh related to this Contest.
   4. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, municipal and local laws. FoodMesh reserves the right to modify or terminate this Contest at any time without notice to the Entrants.
3. CONTEST DURATION
   1. The Contest period will run from 12:00AM PST on September 11, 2025 to 11:59PM PST on November 20, 2025 (the “Contest Period”). Registration and pre-challenge survey (as described in section 5.1(c) below) must be completed between 12:00 AM PST on September11, 2025 and 11:59 PM PST on October 18, 2025.
4. WHO MAY ENTER
   1. The Contest is open to legal residents of Canada who are 19 years of age or older at the time of entry, except employees of FoodMesh and its advertising and promotional agencies and the immediate family of such employees and persons with whom such employees are domiciled. “Immediate family” is defined as parents, siblings, children or spouse. The Contest and any part thereof is void where prohibited by law.
5. CONTEST ENTRY PROCEDURE
   1. No purchase is necessary. To enter the Contest and be eligible for a chance to receive one (1) Grand Prize (as defined below), each Entrant must:
      1. Complete and submit the registration form for the Contest at the Contest registration page https://lovefoodhatewaste.ca/join-our-4-week-citizen-challenge/ by no later than October 17, 2025 at 11:59:00 PM (Pacific Standard Time);
      2. To be eligible for a chance to receive one (1) Small Prize (as defined below), each Entrant must take the following additional steps:
         1. Actively participate in the Contest by making small changes to prevent food waste at home for four (4) consecutive weeks during the Contest Period in accordance with the tips and guidelines provided via text message; and
         2. Complete the two (2) online surveys to monitor progress (a pre-evaluation survey which must be completed by 11:59 PM PST on October 18, 2025and a post-challenge evaluation survey which must be completed by 11:59 PM PST on November 20, 2025).
      3. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person.
6. REPRESENTATIONS & WARRANTIES OF THE ENTRANT
   1. By entering the Contest, each Entrant acknowledges and agrees to, and represents and warrants, the following:
      1. The Entrant acknowledges that they have read and fully complied with these Terms & Conditions;
      2. The Entrant understands that any breach of these Terms & Conditions will result in the immediate forfeiture of any prize that the Entrant may be eligible to win;
      3. The Entrant grants to FoodMesh the exclusive permission to produce, reproduce, use, perform, publish, display and distribute any photographs and video footage entered by the Entrant in this Contest, in whole or in part, in any manner and in any media, either presently existing or created in the future and in perpetuity for educational, public information, promotional, or any other lawful purpose related to Love Food Hate Waste Canada including for publicity, illustration, advertising, and internet content, with or without the Entrant’s full name and without demand for royalties or compensation;
      4. The Entrant grants permission to FoodMesh to edit, modify, alter and juxtapose the photographs and video footage and incorporate them either in whole or in part with or without other material, including text and other recordings and images;
      5. The Entrant waives any right to inspect or approve the photographs or video footage or any derivatives of them;
      6. The photographs and video footage entered by the Entrant in this Contest is original, created solely by the Entrant, and does not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, or defame or invade the publicity or privacy rights, of any third party;
      7. The Entrant agrees to the publication of their full name on any of Love Food Hate Waste Canada’s social media mediums if the Entrant is selected as a winner of the Contest; 
      8. The Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, any social media platforms on which the Contest may have been promoted and/or publicized, including, without limitation, Instagram, Inc. Any questions or comments regarding the Contest should be directed to FoodMesh and not Meta Platforms, Inc. or Microsoft Corporation;
      9. The Entrant hereby releases and forever discharges FoodMesh, The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP), Meta Platforms, Inc., Microsoft Corporation, and their respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents and contractors (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all actions, causes of action, claims, suits, demands, damages, interest, expenses or compensation of whatever kind (collectively, “Claims”), whether known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, arising in law or in equity, including, without limitation, any matters arising in connection with participating in the Contest, receiving and making use of any of the prizes awarded, and any errors or omissions in the offer or administration of this Contest, including but not limited to errors in the advertising, the Contest Terms & Conditions, the selection and announcement of the winners, or the distribution of any prize; and
      10. The Entrant hereby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to the Entrant or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, participation in the Contest, any breach of the Contest Terms & Conditions, or in any prize-related activity.
7. SELECTION OF WINNERS
   1. After the closing date for the Contest on November 20, 2025, selection of the winners for the Grand Prizes (as defined below) will take place by way of random draw from eligible entries on November 21, 2025. The winners will be drawn using a random numeric generation system.
   2. After the closing date for the Contest on November 20, 2025, selection of the winners for the Small Prizes (as defined below) will be awarded to the first 50 Entrants who complete the post challenge survey and have completed the pre challenge survey within the time periods as set out in section 5.1(c) above.
   3. FoodMesh is not responsible for, (i) late, lost, delayed, not received, damaged, misdirected or incomplete entries; or (ii) failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any network, servers, access providers, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or recipient.
   4. If, as a result of an error relating to the entry process, drawing or any other aspect of the Contest, there are more potential winners of prizes than contemplated in these Terms and Conditions, there will be a random draw amongst all eligible prize claimants after the Contest closing date to award the prize.
8. NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS AND PROVISION OF WINNER ENTRANT’S LEGAL NAME AND ADDRESS INFORMATION
   1. FoodMesh will notify each winner of a Grand Prize and a Small Prize by contacting the winner using the email address or phone number associated with that Entrant (as provided on the registration form).
   2. The winner must respond to FoodMesh within 48 hours of such notification and must provide to FoodMesh the following required information and documentation:
      1. the Entrant’s full legal name, email address and residential address; and
      2.  a completed Contest Release and Acknowledgment, in the required form (as set out in Schedule A attached hereto).
   3. Without limiting the generality of Section 8.2, prior to delivery by FoodMesh of the Grand Prize, as applicable, the winner must correctly answer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question.
   4. Failure of the winner to respond to FoodMesh within 48 hours of FoodMesh’s notification and provide the required information and documentation in accordance with Section 8.2, or (for Grand Prize winners) failure to correctly answer the time-limited mathematical skill-testing question in accordance with Section 8.3, will result in the immediate forfeiture of the Grand Prize or Small Prize, as applicable.
   5. In the event of a forfeiture of the Grand Prize or Small Prize, as applicable, in accordance with Section 8.4, FoodMesh will in the case of a Grand Prize, hold a subsequent random draw from the remaining eligible entries to select a new winner and, in the case of a Small Prize, contact the next Entrant who satisfied the requirements set out in section 7.2. The new winner must comply with the above rules for notification, response and provision of required information and documentation within the stipulated timeframe, and answering the time-limited mathematical skill-testing question.
   6. The Grand Prize and Small Prize, as applicable, will be delivered by mail to the winning Entrant’s residential address.
   7. All contact information provided will be used solely for the purposes of administration of this Contest. If you have any questions regarding the collection and use of information, please contact FoodMesh at lovefoodhatewaste@foodmesh.ca.
9. CONTEST PRIZE
   1. A total of four (4) grand prizes (the “Grand Prizes”) and fifty (50) Small Prizes will be awarded . No Entrant may receive more than one (1) Grand Prize and one (1) Small Prize. For greater certainty, a winner of a Grand Prize may also receive a Small Prize.
   2. Each Grand Prize consists of one (1) Grocer gift card (grocery store to be determined by FoodMesh), valued at $500 (CAD) and each Small Prize consists of one (1) Fridge Friend unit, valued at $92 (CAD)
   3. General Conditions for all prizes:
      1. Prizes must be accepted as Prizes are non-transferable and non-redeemable for cash. No substitutions are permitted, except with the permission of FoodMesh, which reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value.
      2. Any costs or expenses incurred by the winners in claiming or using their prizes will be the responsibility of the winners.
      3. The odds of winning any prize depends on the total number of eligible entries received.
      4. No cash or compensation will be offered in exchange for the prize.
   4. All claims, disputes or issues will be decided in a court of competent jurisdiction within the Province of British Columbia.

1. I am a resident of the Province of [insert] and was 19 or older at the time I entered the Contest. Neither I nor any member of my immediate family or any person with whom I am domiciled is an employee of FoodMesh or its advertising and promotional agencies or the immediate family of such employees and persons with whom such employees are domiciled.
2. I accept the above-noted prize as awarded by FoodMesh.
3. I acknowledge and agree that I have read and fully complied with the Contest Terms & Conditions and that any breach of the Contest Terms & Conditions will result in the immediate forfeiture of the above-noted prize.
4. I agree to the use of my name, city/province/territory of residence, picture, biographical information, statements, voice and likeness in any advertising and publicity FoodMesh may conduct relating to the Contest in any media or format, whether now known or hereafter developed, including but not limited to the Internet, at any time or times in perpetuity, without further compensation or notice.
5. I hereby release and forever discharge FoodMesh, WRAP, and their respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees, and agents, and any other persons acting for or on behalf of FoodMesh in the Contest (collectively, the “Releasees”), of and from any and all actions, causes of action, claims, suits, demands, damages, interest, expenses or compensation of whatever kind, whether known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, arising in law or in equity, including without limitation any matters arising in connection with participating in the Contest, receiving and making use of any prize awarded, and any errors or omissions in the offer or administration of this Contest, including but not limited to errors in the advertising, the Contest Terms & Conditions, the selection and announcement of the winners or the distribution of any prize.
6. I hereby agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind to me or any other person, including personal injury, death, or property damage, resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize, participation in the Contest, any breach of the Contest Terms & Conditions, or in any prize-related activity.
7. The provisions of this release and acknowledgement shall enure to the benefit of the respective heirs, executors, administrators, personal representatives, successors and assigns of each of the Releasees and shall be binding upon my heirs, executors, administrators and personal representatives.
8. This Release will be construed in accordance with and governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada in force in the Province of British Columbia.
