Best Storage
The fridge is the best place to store nuts and seeds.
Store nuts in an airtight container in the fridge. If it’s still in the original packaging, store in a cool dry place.
Can I Freeze It?
Yes.
Nuts can be frozen. Just make sure they are sealed in a freezer bag or airtight container.
Fresher For Longer
Freshen up any type of nut by toasting them on a baking sheet in the oven for 10 minutes at a low temperature.
Use It Up
Chop nuts up and freeze for use on ice cream or in crumble toppings – you can add them straight from the freezer! You can also use them in a simple pesto. Blend up some basil, oil, Parmesan and pine nuts, and have fun substituting one or more of these ingredients for something similar: parsley or mint for basil, another hard (or even blue) cheese for Parmesan, and walnuts, pecans or almonds for pine nuts.
Did You Know?
Nuts are highly perishable and go rancid quickly. Pre-packed nuts have longer best before dates and can be on the old side. Bulk nuts are often the freshest because the bins get cycled through so frequently.
