Canadians are planning more and wasting less.
In June of 2020 the National Zero Waste Council commissioned market research to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on consumer behaviours and attitudes related to food and food waste.
While COVID-19 has had, and will continue to have, a profound impact on the everyday lives of Canadians, the good news is that the introduction of physical distancing and stay at home measures may have had a positive impact on food management in the home – with Canadians planning more and wasting less.
These positive actions and mindsets suggest we have made a small but significant step forward in the fight against food waste in Canada.
