Best Storage
The fridge is the best place to store berries.
Remove any mouldy or damaged berries before storing in their original packaging on the top shelf of the fridge to help reduce the chance of moisture and mould growth.
Can I Freeze It?
Yes.
Freeze fresh berries on a tray first (so that they don’t lump together) and then transfer the frozen berries to an airtight container and store in the freezer.
Fresher For Longer
Do not wash berries until you are ready to eat them. (Wet berries are more likely to get mouldy.) Keep your berries in the fridge and only bring to room temperature and wash them when you are ready to eat or use them.
Use It Up
Squishy berries make a great smoothie – simply blend with yogurt, milk or fruit juice. Or use them in jams, baking or desserts like a crisp or crumble. Frozen whole berries are also a refreshing addition to summertime beverages.
Did You Know?
To bring out the flavour of lacklustre berries, hull and slice the berries and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle with a little sugar and let sit for 15 minutes. The sugar will draw moisture from the berries to make a natural sweet syrup.
