Best Ways To Store And Use Cake

Best Storage

The cupboard or countertop is the best place to store cake.

Not eating it for a few days? Place the cake in an airtight container in the fridge. Let the cake warm up to room temperature before serving.

Ensure your fridge is set between 0 and 4°C.

Can I Freeze It?

Yes.

Cakes can be frozen. Freeze cake in slices, putting a piece of parchment paper between each slice before freezing to stop the slices from sticking together. Then you can defrost just what you need.

Fresher For Longer

Sponge cakes can be refreshed by popping them in the oven for a few minutes or microwave for a few seconds.

To prevent cut cakes from drying out and getting stale, wrap the cut sides tightly or lather on some frosting.

Use It Up

Toast slices of stale fruit cake or plain sponge cake and slather with butter. Delicious!

Did You Know?

Oil-based cakes tend to keep a bit longer than butter-based ones.
