Best Ways To Store And Use Bacon

Best Storage

The fridge is the best place to store bacon.

Once you’ve opened the package, follow the package instructions about how to store the bacon. All raw meat should be kept at the bottom of the fridge in a clean, sealed container.

Ensure your fridge is set between 0 and 4°C.

Can I Freeze It?

Yes.

Separate a large package of bacon into slices, slide parchment paper between the slices and freeze. Then you can just defrost what you need later.

Fresher For Longer

Keep cooked meat separate from raw meat.

Raw bacon can last for one week in the fridge and one month in the freezer. Leftover cooked bacon can last four to five days in the fridge.

Use It Up

Leftover bacon from breakfast? Don’t throw it away. Chop it up for a crunchy topping for your salad or favourite pasta dish. You can also add it to soups, stews or bakes.

Did You Know?

Bacon enhances flavours in dishes because it is packed with the two traditional flavour enhancers: salt and fat. To put it simply, salt brings out flavour and fat carries that delicious flavour to our taste buds.
