Best Ways To Store And Use Lettuce

Best Storage

The fridge is the best place to store lettuce.

Store all varieties of lettuce in the fridge in their original packaging or loosely wrapped in a damp cloth.

Ensure your fridge is set between 0 and 4°C.

Can I Freeze It?

No.

Foods with high water content, like lettuce and cucumber, do not freeze well.

Fresher For Longer

Iceberg lettuce should be stored in a lettuce crisper. If you don’t have one, wrap the iceberg in paper towels and store it in an airtight bag.

Other lettuces and salad leaves should be removed from their packaging and stored in an airtight container.

Lettuce gone a bit limp? Soak individual leaves in a bowl of cold water in the fridge – they’ll soon perk up.

Use It Up

Cook lettuce in a griddle pan or on the barbeque – it’s the charred bits that make it delicious! Add leftover lettuce to soups, such as pea soup.
